Trust the Process
TRUST THE PROCESS
Not everything in sports and life is about strength (physical and/or mental). During the pandemic I learned to do many home improvement projects. Most home improvement projects take time to complete. There is a process to completing them, and they require some planning along with patience. They also never go exactly according to plan. This sounds an awful lot like training!
Nothing builds confidence like a well designed plan. A well designed plan maps out everything you are going to do and everything you expect will happen. it takes away the guess work. Beginner DIY-ers get discouraged because they often don't have a solid plan and when everything is demolished and things are in disarray it becomes overwhelming. The same thing happens in training, but in training it happens to everyone at all levels. The reason is because generic planning and over generalizing is common at all levels. Instead of improving the plan one solution that I've noticed is to get a sport psychologist! or to work on being more mentally tough. In my personal experience in life smart action taking and smart planning build confidence because they lead to success. The more success we have the more confident we can become. If our training program sucks our results will too. Instead of blaming yourself for being inconsistent or not achieving what you wanted, make a better plan that will get the result you're after.
Training is a process and so is life! Follow a program that leads somewhere. Have a purpose behind your training decisions and I mean ALL of them. Decide when you will train flexibility, speed, strength, and endurance because you are looking for a superior outcome. And trust the process. In the beginning, you won't know how to make these decisions. That's ok, you can learn. And if you want help getting those results faster you can ask questions to me or hire me to be your guide.
